Demerara Brown Sugar is made simply from the juice of organically grown sugar cane – pressed, steamed, then dehydrated to create large golden-brown crystals. No chemicals involved. The sugar cane is grown in a plantation with ‘biodiversity islands’ to promote native plants, birds and mammals. The green cane is spread over the fields to provide nutrients and prevent soil erosion instead of being burned. This free-flowing sugar has a crunchy texture that’s great for sprinkling or adding crunchiness in baking.
