About the product
Certified Organic meeting rigorous UK Soil Association standards for growing the ingredients, distillation, maturation and bottling.
Benromach is Speyside's smallest distillery. Started in 1898 Benromach prides itself in being one of the few remaining distilleries where the whisky is fully handcrafted. It is matured in only the finest first-fill bourbon and first-fill sherry casks. This whisky is made slowly in the time-honoured way to produce a classic Speyside spirit with balanced flavours and a hint of smoke that remains true to the original whisky produced in the region.
Unique on launch in 2006, this Organic certification is still very rare today.
The Benromach Organic originally scored 91/100 but by 2016 the 2014 release of this Benromach had climbed to 93/100, which classifies it as “brilliant”. Jim Murray, says of the taste, “good grief: just didn’t expect that! The sugars from the oak have linked with the sweeter bits of the barley and rocketed off, with spices forming when the energy begins to dip.”
He summarises with, “The most astonishing explosion of intense barley and oak. More orgasmic than organic!”
