The Difference Between Organic and Free Range Eggs
When it comes to eggs, buying fresh, free range, and organic makes a big difference. You may be wondering what the difference is between free range and organic. The answer is that, while all certified organic eggs are free range, free range eggs aren’t always organic. Free range refers to the ethical housing of the hens. This means that the hens have access to larger plots of healthier land than cage eggs do, and have a safe environment to roost.
Organic eggs use free range farming practices as well, the difference being in what they feed the hens and how they treat both the hens and the land. The hens are fed with organic feed, and neither the feed nor the land on which the hens are kept is treated with any synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides.

What are Open Range Eggs?
We choose to only stock what we consider to be open range eggs at Doorstep Organics. While free range is a good start and organic a step better, some free range farms aren’t to the standard that we support. To us, the term ‘open range’ refers to farms that truly provide their hens with the healthiest and happiest lives they can.

We love bread, but so often it’s filled with preservatives that we would rather not put into our body. That’s why we opt to only stock the very best quality bread in our bakery. We stock freshly made bread from a number of bakeries, including The Bread and Butter Project. The Bread and Butter Project invests all of their profits into providing opportunities for those seeking refuge and asylum in Australia. Not only do they bake for a great cause they also bake amazing artisanal breads and goodies that we are proud to stock. Frozen Bread
If you’re looking for a specific brand or type of bread, you might find it in our Frozen Bread section. This is where we stock niche loaves of bread that cater to specific diets, such as keto bread and paleo bread, as well as unique loaves like Nonie’s Activated Charcoal and Quinoa Bread. We also stock different types of bread such as sweet potato sourdough, fruit and nut loaf, and cornbread in our Frozen Bread section.
Long Life Bread
Our organic range of long life bread will wait on the shelf for as long as you need. Packed with nutritious seeds and whole-grain goodness, these unique loaves are artisanally made with health and wellbeing in mind.
Gluten Free Bread
There is no getting around the fact that gluten is so often the basis of great bread. It’s what binds the dough and expands when baked, resulting in light, fluffy loaves that are a joy to eat.
Unfortunately for those of us with celiac disease and sensitive digestive systems, gluten is not a friend. We stock a wide range of gluten free bread to give those who are gluten-free the joyous experience of bread without the painful experience of gluten.
Flatbread
If you’re looking for something lighter than your traditional bread but still just as convenient, our flatbreads and wraps are your best option. We stock a wide range of products, including raw coconut wraps, spelt wraps, chia wraps, corn tortillas, buckwheat fodmap wraps, chapati, and more. We also ensure that we stock gluten free flatbread and wraps so that you can enjoy a tasty wrap without worrying about your dietary restrictions.
Essene Bread
For easily digestible bread that is nutrient-dense and made without additives and preservatives, you might want to try Essene bread. This type of bread is made with grains that have germinated before being milled into flour, while most breads are made with flour milled from grains that haven't sprouted. The result is organic bread that packs lots of flavour, texture, and nutrients into each bite.

Crumpets and Muffins
Just as The Bread and Butter Project bakes us delicious artisan breads, they also supply us with a tasty selection of crumpets and muffins. Our current favourites in stock are raspberry and coconut white chocolate muffins and dark chocolate and cherry muffins, and we can’t wait to see what new flavours they come up with next. Our range of crumpets include traditional, blueberry, sourdough, and chocolate crumpets that are bound to make any breakfast better. We also stock vegan crumpets for our plant based shoppers and gluten free crumpets.
Pizza Bases
Nothing beats homemade pizza. We stock raw, organic, and already sauced pizza bases to make your pizza night that much easier and tastier. From fully prepared raw pizza bases topped with tomato and basil, to gluten free sourdough bases, we even stock gluten free pizza base mix to give you the authentic homemade pizza experience.
Pastries, Pies, and Tarts
Lastly, we have the sweet section of our bakery: Pastries, Pies, and Tarts. Here you can again enjoy freshly baked goodies from The Bread and Butter Project, as well as baked goods from other bakeries.
